Laughing at an inside joke (that you don’t know about)

Laughing is the best therapy. If you laugh hard enough it can also be a workout. And if you laugh harder-er, it can even induce vomiting for those occasions when you swallow something poisonous and the label says it is ok to do so.

That's weird humor.

There are certain moments when you absolutely shouldn't laugh, otherwise you are jerk and you suck.

Moments When You Should Not Laugh

  • When old people fall down in a comical manner, or when they fart.
  • At an elevator (just shut up and look at the numbers), or during that silent moment before the movie comes on at the movie theater. Pretty much everywhere when silence is expected of you.
  • When a police officer is asking you stuff when you get pulled over.
  • When someone is really angry. Like when you piss off your mom.
  • When your girlfriend is frustrated over something you did and mentions the phrase “…taking/take me seriously”
  • When you didn't hear what a person said and don't want to ask them to repeat themselves so you assume they said a joke. It may not be a joke.
By far, one of the most awkward laughing moments comes from when you are with a few people and they say a joke to each other and they all laugh so you feel like you should also laugh… Only to later find out that it was an inside joke and there is no way that you could've gotten it anyway. If the people are nice, they may explain it to you. If they're mean they may ask you if you get it and put you on the spot to try to explain it. That's pretty messed up.

Have you ever laughed when you weren't supposed to do so?

70. Someone you unfriended requests you on Facebook

I know what you writers are about to say: “It isn’t ‘unfriend’ it is ‘defriend’ ”

56. Wishing a happy birthday on the wrong day

Thanks to Facebook and all of these other methods of stalking people, we no longer need to remember people’s birthdays. The internet does that for us too! [Which reminds me, we have some awkward posts coming up regarding social media so if you have any ideas for these, drop them anywhere and I’ll find them somehow.] So now we don’t even have to bother with remembering our friend’s birthdays and blah blah blah. .

Do you ever feel like you can’t trust a website such as Facebook to have the right information? Every single time I see the little notification of someone’s birthday, I click on their profile to make sure that other people have been commenting on their wall to say happy birthday because wishing it to someone when it isn’t his or her birthday can be very interesting. Even when I think I’m sure, I begin to doubt myself after thinking about how awkward it can be for me if I have it wrong.

My birthday is easy to remember. It’s 7-7 (July 7th) and people still manage to get it wrong. I said “Oh it’s not my birthday today” a total of 3 times. They were close though.

I thought about several solutions for us forgetful people when we’re in doubt.. check it out:

1. Call and ask “Hey, when’s your birthday?” if they say “Today” then be cool about it, say bye, and hang up. Then call back and say “Happy birthday!” as soon as they answer.

2. Check his or her Facebook profile.

3. Call his or her mom and ask. If she doesn’t remember, take the risk and wish your friend happy birthday anyway. It will add joy to his or her life —some much needed joy.

What would you say to the response: “Oh, it’s not my birthday today.”?
